With my tatoos it was only the first night. And a very slight smear of paw paw ointment can help your tatoo heal.

l have 2 tatoos, and l only left my bandages on for a few hours.. You dont have to keep it on till it heals. l think its just because it bleeds a bit after so you just keep it on to keep it clean and free from infection. you should be fine after a few hours.
l put a bit of savlon on mine after that to help it heal.

l went to the drugstore and got some gauze bandages. you will probably only need them for a week at best, but you will need the whole box because it is a good idea to change after you shower. make sure you keep the ointment (A&D works well) on it or it will get itchy and scab really badly.keep it clean, remember it is hypodermic ink and can get infected.

DO NOT keep the bandage on for more than couple of hours, u have to take it off to let ur skin breath and heal right!

l was advised to keep it on for at least 2 hours after having it done, then gently wash with mild antibacterial soap, pat dry and apply a thin layer of Bepanthon cream, then re-wrap for the first night only, after that you should let it heal without being covered.

Do not keep it on over night. Two hours maximum, one hour minimum.
Never put a bandage on it again.

Among the people l know in the industry (including my husband) the current school of thought is that it should be left on overnight. Some artists actually advise leaving the bandage on for 24 hours (!). l tried that once & it did not really work out too well. Overnight has always given me the best results. Some artists r comfortable with clients taking their bandages off after two hours. It varies.
l have kept mine on overnight with all of my tattoos but the first two. l had much better results & much easier healing leaving the bandages on overnight. That way all of the plasma & lymph is caught up in the bandage rather than the possibility of it drying on ur tattoo.
DO NOT bandage it again. It is essential that u do not cover it so that ur tattoo can breathe. Keep in mind it is basically a big ole' open wound so it needs air circulation to heal.
Good luck!

take it off within a couple of hours. the tattoo needs to be washed and treated with whatever your artist recommended (a&d, aquaphor, etc).
it is alright to keep it on overnight if you got it later in the day, but take it off as SOON as you wake up and clean it.

bandages are bad for tattoos might stick to it and spoil it when you struggle to take it off.in scotland its clingfilm.

It needs to breathe so only keep the bandage on for at least 2 hours. Best of luck.

The answer my artist gave me was to take it off when l got home, wash it very gently with fragrance free soap and put ointment on it. H2Ocean worked best for me.
